This year’s winner of the prize draw at the Spring Exhibition was Elaine Kidd. The collagraph print ‘St Petersburg’ by Jenny Thomas was much admired by Elaine at the exhibition so it was her natural choice on discovering that she had won. ELaine is pictured here receiving her prize from the Society’s chair Antonia Glynne Jones.
After a record number of votes I am pleased to announce the winners of our ‘People’s Choice Vote’.
1st place: ‘Sir Richard and Friends’ by Ian Davenport

Work by Stewkley artist, Diana Sheldon, has been selected from a record number of entries to appear alongside paintings by some of Britain’s leading watercolour painters. This year 1,000 works were submitted to the exhibition, with two of Diana’s paintings included in the 143 works chosen. The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours exhibition will be on display at Mall Galleries between 6 and 22 April 2017.
The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) hold an open submission exhibition in central London each year. Founded in 1831, the RI was established to exhibit the best of progressive watercolours, showing a diversity of styles and techniques, from traditional uses of the medium to the more experimental and innovative paintings.
“I am thrilled that the RI Panel has selected two of my paintings for this year’s Open Exhibition: Storms, War and Shipwrecks inspired by the 2016 Ashmolean Sicily exhibition, and Venetian Doorbells an image of Venice street furniture”…Diana Sheldon, February 2017.
